I woke up this morning and was absolutely ready for the meet. I was way pumped up and ready to run. I had a good oatmeal breakfast and my natural fruit energy smoothie i am going to start to drink and then headed off to the track. I did a quick 1 mile around the track before the meet started then went and stretched and got ready. The nerves were running through me, but they were good nerves. After all the races and Luke Puskedras 4:09 mile, it was my turn. I was seeded 13 because of a bad region time so I had to start in the last lanes and make my way throught he pack. I did it though and was running a good race. I was keeping up with the lead pack, but then on the end of the 3rd lap, i got boxed in when everyone was making there push. So i couldn't stay up. I kept up the mental aspect and kept pushing it though. On the 4th lap I got passed by two guys so was in 10th, but caught them the last 100 and took 8th and scored for the team. It was a good race and I felt strong, I might of been able to do a little better, if certain things wouldn't of happened and could of started in the 1st lanes, but oh well a good race and great way to end an okay season with a 4 second PR.

I was the 3 fastest Junior in the top 8 too (other two took 3rd and 4th), but i know i will be able to pass the other two next year. I am going to work hard this summer and train with some fast guys like Logan and Karl and others.

Did a 2 mile cool down after, one with Karl and then my coach took me back to the hotel to stay out of the sun. Adam Timo took state in the High and we are in 3rd place after day 1. Man do i love state. I can't wait for the 3200 tomorrow, that is my race.

Good to meet you yesterday. Make sure to take that time off and ease back into those miles. Good job at state!

Great job at state Hayden. You've really come a long way in a short amount of time. A good summer of training we'll make you that much stronger come this fall. I look forward to running with you some over the summer.
