Today was the big day, my time should of been in the 15:30 range. Went into the race feeling pretty good, but didn't turn out good. Did 2 mile warmup with Pine View and then after waiting awhile we finally started. I projected i would at least finish in the top 3. Got a horrible start, got trapped with all the slow runners and got boxed in. Took me about .5 to 1 mile to get out and when i got out it was at the hill. After that i just didn't feel the same had nothing in the legs. I lost my mentality and just deiced to do what i could and try to hold on to top 5. It was cold and am not used to the cold so that might of hurt. It seemed like it hurt all the runners from down south (Karl too). Have not been doing any elevation training either. No excuses though. I felt okay with the results. Wound up 17 out to the whole state and beat some kids i wanted to beat. I ran a fast time still and would of been 7 in whole state last year. I talked to some college kids and they said i beat their times and they took 2nd in state. I know that i am the 2nd or 3rd fastest runner in the State still and am going to bring that into track and redeem myself and go for a state title their or atleast 2nd. The northern guys just ran great races and i didn't. Bad races come to everyone it is just to bad it had to happen at state. I know the college coaches know how fast i could really run and this wont change their minds much. I am happy and excited for a great foot locker with a whole month of training and no races till then. I will be mentally ready and physically (Training with Aaron the whole time and doing his workouts). I will go redeem myself their and place high, maybe even top 10.

Good job all my friends in Cross. I am going to miss racing Cross in High School, but am really excited for whats to come in College and racing everyone again. What a great high school career and great Season. I brought the school record down to 15:14. 1:01 minutes faster than it was. Thanks for all your support. To check full results go to runnercard.com

hey man you ran a great race and you didn't let go for a minute...Just the luck of the draw on the start...I think if that would have gone more in your favor you would easily have been a huge contender for the title. You looked strong the whole way and never let up. Good freakin' job man! And congrats on the school record! You need not have any regrets for this season!

good job Hayden. I was watching you, and coming up the hill on the side of the course you looked like you were hurting, but you didn't loose a single spot from there to the finish. You were in 7th when I saw you, and 7th at the finish. I think that you did a remarkable job at pushing through the discomfort and not giving up. Again, good job.
