Well not much to say about this race except i was ready and felt good and just had a misfortune. Went in and did all my warm ups i needed lined up with the tough competition to run the really hilly course and we took off. I was in about 20-30 place (right where i wanted to be) going into mile one when the guy two people in front of me fell to the ground. I ran right in to hime and hit the ground face planting it into the dirt, about 5 other guys fell on top of me and it took us awhile to get up. Once i got up my eyes, mouth, and nose where full of dirt and i was in about 80-100th place. I started to sprint to catch up and that was right at the switchbacks so i put to much effort into the hills so i just kept pushing it with blood dripping down my arm and knees. I kept pushing it and caught some guys and some caught me and crossed the line in 80th place really discouraged and down.
I have been working so hard for this race and was ready, was feeling good and just went down and loss my pace, control, and mentality. I felt i had a good chance and was strong and confident still. I tried to recover but it was just to hard. I knew i had no chance and just fell apart, cause i had no chance once i went down. I guess this stuff happens, just stinks cause i beat the 7th place guy in Boise, and have beaten so many kids ahead of me. I guess i will just have to wait till track and do good in that. I am excited for road racing and track and can't wait to run on flat surface. I am glad i didn't get injured and feel okay cause i could not control this. What i am dreaming for will come, maybe not today, tomorrow, or maybe not even in a couple years, but it will come. I will be patient and still work my butt off and hopefully it will come and i will have that good race.
I am going to run Painters and see what i can do at that and then get ready for a great track season and get some fast times so i can get a good scholarship, keeping my head up the whole way through the trials. |
