Got up around 6:30 to catch the bus at 7:30 for the meet at 9:00. I took a shower and had a good little breakfast and was ready for this 1600 today. My right quad was a little sore from a hard week and the 3200, but i was ready to go. After doing about 2 miles of warm ups i was ready for the 16. Today it would be me, Carl Wilcock, Jonathon Nelson, Darrin Fletcher, and Josh Gardner. As the race began we all kinda took it easy in are little pack and ran a 1:09 first lap and after that we had negative splits everytime and they were fast. We took off with the Timpview guys leading then in about the end of the 2nd beginning of the 3rd we all were pretty close. at the end of the 3rd i was in 4th and carl, jon and darrin were ahead of me. then in the 4th Josh caught up and passed me on the back stretch. then with about 200 left Carl took off and i took off about 150 to go (after falling a little behind) i caught Josh at the very end, beating him by a second at 4:33.58. It was a fast fun race and exciting finish. If i would have started my kick a little sooner i could of caught the two timpview guys easily. I still had alot left at the end of the race that looks promising for me. Carl took first running a 4:27 and i took 4th. This was a great race and good way to start off a season. Can't wait to see what i can do. With all my warm ups and cool downs (1 with Dustin) i did around 6 miles. my time is only .4 seconds away from the school record and 3 seconds from state qualification. Man this is going to be a great season.
I also ran the 800 today and ran it in 2:09 and took 8th. I really do not like the 800 but was a good training run. It was also a fun and fast race, allthough i was well spent by this time and i got spiked pretty good in the race by Josh, (its okay though women like scars, ha ha). I hope i can take 1st in region in this event though too. That would be sweet to take 3 events. We had some good performances today and am glad for my team and for these kids that actually showed up. Now i need to go rest up these tired legs.
