Today was the second day and i wanted to do better today to make up for yesterday, alot. It was the 3200 today and i was mentally, physically, and spiritually prepared. Are race started and to my luck Karl was not running. Ha Ha. Their was still good comp though. I went out and stayed in 4th or 5th for the first 5 laps. Then on the 6th i decieded i had to push the pace if i wanted to break my goal of sub 9:50. So i took off in first place and kept it for the remainder. Until the very end though when Ben Johnson of Orem followed me and had a excellent race and great kick. He passed me on the last 100, but i was not going to let him beat me. So i used all i had and caught him at the end for a photo finish. They could not tell for a while who won, but it finally came through that i won because of my lean. I ended up winning by .02 seconds. WOW! It was a fun race and is my favorite race. i PRed by 5 seconds and achieved my goal. I don't know i always run good in the morning and night never right after school in mid day. My legs seem to have nothing at that time (showed in my mile). I am really excited and know i am growing in running and am increasing just the way i want too. It will all come a little at a time. Soon i will be not just fast but super fast. Did a 1mile warm up and 1 mile cool down and got a nice big blister on my foot.

Now it was time for the 800 in the medley. I was not to ready for this and dread 800's. It didn't help i had a blister on the ball of my foot, which i will have to take some time to heal up. I was going to do my best though. We had a little lead when it came to me and i took off with Ben Johnson again right behind me. We were running pretty good and it all came down to the last 100 again and he just out sprinted me and won me by less than a second this time. Darn! Man all my races were really close this weekend. I wish i could of won them all though. I still need to work on that leg speed. I ended up running a PR 2:07 800 though, but know i could run it faster. We were only 4 seconds off of qualifying and will save a day to just do that. I was really impressed by my self today and everyone else at the track meet. Now its time to heal up and have a rest week next week. Oh yea are medley team ended up taking 6th. 2 miles warm ups.

The bad part about today was that are boys team lost to Orem by 1 point and took 2nd. 78 to 77. It all came down to the 4X400 and Orem won it to pull ahead. We didn't have a team because everyone left, what idiots. Its okay though were looking good for state and didn't have all are guys show up. We are doing really well this year. (Stratus: 86:83)

Awesome job today! You really cranked it out and got some great PR's - keep it up you crazy fellow.... (Btw, I'm not sure if I've yet forgiven your criticism of our hard work on the boys 1600m results.) jk ;)

Man! Sweet race in the 3200! That was so fun to watch you and I wanted to be out there so bad instead of just sitting there roasting in the sun. Haha! You are going to do awesome this year! Let's both be state champions!

Oh, fine, I guess I have to forgive you now. :)

Congratulations on a PR. For your training, focus on not skipping days, and never ending a day with less than 10 miles. Do not taper for your races until you have something very very important. Ease off on your pace. Run half of your mileage with the girls if they would let you. This should allow your legs to rest, and your nervous system to recharge (especially if the conversation is interesting and results in going out on a date) while receiving essentially the same aerobic fitness benefits.

As frequently as you are racing, you could do very well without track work with races serving as workouts. So if you are doing a track workout with a team, ask the coach if he would let you pace a slower runner. Make sure to go to bed early, and be religiously consistent about it - see my comment in Ruth's blog regarding sleep.
